New gas system for listed building with Profipress
The Cavallino Bianco restaurant is the oldest and most traditional restaurant in Bolzano, Italy, located in a building listed for its artistic value. For its professional kitchen the entire gas system has been replaced in line with the highest safety standards. The system has been aesthetically integrated into the historical facade of the approximately 800-year-old building and prepared for future expansion.
Technical bulletin 6181/2014
The publication of the technical bulletin 6181/2014, clarifying the application of UNI 11528:2014 and UNI 8723:2100, made the use of press connectors in gas systems above 35 kW outside living areas and for the hotel industry according to UNI 8723 legitimate. Thus, the installer Konrad Pichler was allowed to use a press connection system for the construction of a 80 kW gas system at the restaurant in Bolzano.
Profipress G: practical and safe
The choice fell on Viega Profipress G which offers maximum security and materials of undisputed quality. Konrad Pichler opted for the use of press connectors with a diameter of 54 mm to provide for a future increase in the plant capacity to 160 or even 240 kW.
The pressing of the Profipress G connectors could easily be done using Viega’s lightweight press tools. They simplified using the large diameter fittings and the work on the roof of the building – that was necessary to reach the point of connection to the municipal gas network which is located in the backyard.
